Three years ago my diabetes was out of control, I had alarming blood pressure and was seriously overweight but the thing that got my attention was my sweet mother’s mental decline. I watched the person who I loved all my life, waste away into a state of confusion, fear and despair.

After my father passed away, mom lived with Steve and I for six years. As her dementia worsened, she eventually required 24 hour care and had to be placed in a nursing home here in our town. I visited her everyday and got a wake-up call to what happens when your health is gone and you can’t take care of yourself anymore. I decided that if I could get healthy and stay healthy, I was going to do it.

I made significant lifestyle changes, but what made a real difference has been what I’ve learned along the way. I began reading articles and listening to podcasts about the human body and how it works. I’ve learned about nutrition and how important exercise is to lasting health.

What has surprised me though, is what makes us sick. The research is available to anyone looking. Evidence shows that chemicals in our water, food and personal care products are poisoning us. It was eye-opening—and honestly a little unsettling—to realize how much of our illnesses are connected to everyday exposures we rarely think about.

It changed the way I looked at health—not just as diet or exercise, but as everything we breathe, touch, and bring into our homes.

This website began with a simple request from my son: to create a little booklet of better choices—cleaner foods, healthier household items, easy swaps they could trust. But once I started, I couldn’t stop. Putting it all down in one place felt like clearing space in my mind.

So I decided to create a place where I could organize everything I’ve learned in a simple, straightforward way—both for my own family and for anyone else who might find it helpful.

I hope the things I’ve shared here can make your own path to better health simpler and help you feel better every day.
