UC 11
UC-II is a specialized form of collagen derived from chicken cartilage. Unlike Types I & III, it works through the immune system rather than providing raw building blocks. It helps “train” the immune system not to attack joint cartilage, reducing inflammation and stiffness.
Does it really work?
Yes, especially for joint comfort. Clinical studies show UC-II can improve flexibility and reduce pain in people with osteoarthritis or exercise-related joint issues. It generally works at a low dose (about 40 mg daily).
Can I get enough in real food?
No. While type II collagen exists in cartilage (like chicken wings or bone broth), the undenatured form used in UC-II supplements isn’t something you’d get through normal cooking.
Do I need a supplement for everyday health?
No. UC-II is more of a therapeutic option for people with stiff or aching joints, not something everyone needs daily.
